Some of these are free beaches, others are equipped with bathing establishments, bars and restaurants.<\/p><p>Not far from Argentario is <strong>Orbetello,<\/strong> noted for its<strong> lagoon where pink flamingos nest<\/strong> and where bream, bass, mullet and eel are farmed. The historical influences of the people who inhabited it are worth mentioning: the Etruscans, whose traces can still be seen today in the walls that surround it; the Romans, whose remains can be seen in the Cosa colony; the Sienese, who left the Mulino that emerges from the lagoon; the Spanish, who built the Guzman munitions now home to the city museum; the Bourbons, up to the Grand Dukes of Tuscany.<\/p><p>The lagoon separates the town of Orbetello from the <strong>Duna di Feniglia Nature Reserve.<\/strong> Access here is free, on foot and by bicycle. Also worth a visit in Pitigliano are the Archaeological Museum of Etruscan Civilisation, the Open Air Museum named after Alberto Manzi and the cellars dug into the Tufo rock.<\/p><p>A short distance from Pitigliano is <strong>Sovana,<\/strong> an important Etruscan centre with an impressive necropolis immersed in the countryside. Following in the footsteps of history, don&#8217;t miss a visit to the Ildebranda Tomb, the 14th-century Church of St Mary, the original Cathedral, and the birthplace of Ildebrando di Soana, who became Pope Gregory VII.<\/p><p><strong>Sorano<\/strong> also retains significant Etruscan relics. The Citt\u00e0 del Tufo Archaeological Park still preserves the necropolis with chamber, aedicula and temple tombs, and the Vie Cave, intriguing paths carved into the rock.<br \/>The imposing Orsini Fortress in the village is historically important and today houses the Medieval and Renaissance
